The Graduate Center for Religious and Cultural Exchange of South China Agricultural University was established in 2009. Professor He Fangyao, director of the center, now has 5 professors, 7 associateprofessors and 10 lecturers. At the same time, the center hasabsorbed many experts and scholars engaged in religious and culturalresearch from other units, forming a more reasonable research team,covering history, philosophy, nationality, religion and China. Thefields of literature and folk custom constitute a disciplinestructure which is both self-contained and professionalcomplementary. Since its establishment, the center has held fourinternational and domestic academic seminars, won five nationalsocial science projects, six provincial and ministerial levelscientific research projects, published more than 40 papers and fiveacademic works; in terms of teaching, it has set up world religion,life and death Science (public elective course of the whole school), Chinese religious lectures, general theory of Chinese religion,history of world civilization, western art history and Westernhistory. The courses of history, introduction to religion and wisdomof life in Tao Te Ching are welcomed and praised by students. Sinceits establishment, the center has jointly held a public welfare "lifeand mind consultation center" with Guangdong Provincial Bureauof religion and Guangdong Buddhist Association. It has provided freeconsultation for thousands of people for more than ten years, and hasobtained good results and social praise.
