Be a good teacher with moral sentiment ——The College of Humanities and Law Held a Lecture on "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind"

In order to deeply implement the theme education of “RemainTrue to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind”,learn and implement the standards of teachers in the new era, andsolidly carry out the construction of teachers’moralityand ethics, on the morning of October 25, 2019, the Collegeof Humanities and Law helda speciallecturewith such theem.The lecture was led by Yi Gang, deputy secretary of the PartyCommittee of Guangdong Baiyun University, on the topic of “Beinga Good Teacher with Moral Ethics”.The conference was hostedby  Zhang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College ofHumanities and Law.All faculties of the College of Humanities and Law attended thislecture.

Yi Gangquoted itfrom President XiJinping, andshared his experience from threeaspects,which are thespecialty of teachers’profession,the special requirements of teachers' professional ethics, and thenoble ethics of beinga good teacher. Yi Gang emphasized that teachers ownasupremeand glorious profession of shaping soul, life and new people.Therefore, the particularity of the teacher's occupation determinesthat the construction of teacher's ethics is particularly important.Teachers' professional ethics have higher requirements than otherprofessional ethics; their moral behavior is more stronglydemonstrated than others; their influence is more extensive andfar-reaching than other professional ethics. Therefore, we mustcomprehensively improve teachers' ideological and political qualityand professional ethics.

At the same time, Yi Gang and all the faculty members and teachersjointly learned the 10 rules of professional behavior of universityteachers in the new era, and advocated that teachers should be firmin political direction, consciously patriotic and law-abiding, conveyexcellent culture, concentrate on teaching and educating people,adhere to words and deeds, and abide by academic standards,upholdfairness and integrity, uphold integrity and self-discipline, andactively contribute to society.

Yi Gang took excellent teachers such as Yu Yias an example,whois arepresentative of the basic education reform.He also introducedLi Baoguo, the “TaihangshanYugong”whocreated a new road for poverty alleviation in mountainous areas, WuLiangyong, the founder of human settlement and environmental science,and Lin Yifu, an explorer of economic system reform theory, asexamples. Headvocatedthat participants shouldbe good teacherswith noble ethics, always insist on being a virtuous person andcultivatestudents to grow up. At the same time, Yi Gang also conductedin-depth opinionexchangeson issues such as teachers' original intention and motivation,teachers' fundamental functions, and teachers' evaluation mechanism.

At the end of the lecture, Yi Gang told a bit of a story between heand the oldprincipalLu Yonggen, called on the teachers to insist on having promised to bea good teacherand learn from LuYonggen’schivalryand dedication.

Teachers' Day in China has gone through 35 yearsuntil this year.General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that the majority of teachershave implemented the party's education policy, taught and educatedpeople, worked hard, made dedication in silence, madea major contribution to national development and nationalrevitalization. Teachers are engineers of human souls and inheritorsof human civilization, carrying the important tasks of the era ofspreading knowledge, spreading ideas, spreading truth, shaping soul,shaping life, and shaping new people. Teachers from all over thecountry should be good teachers with ideals, beliefs, moralsentiments, solid knowledge, and kindness, whichwill make greater contributions to the development of moderneducation with Chinese characteristics and at a world level, and tothe cultivation of builders and successors of the socialist cause.

Teachers,who are able to preachand teach to solve puzzles.It is hoped that the majority of teachers will not forget theiroriginal intentions and motivations, insist on building up morals,keep in mind the mission of beinga teacher,make their own contributions on the post, and cultivate vast talentsfor the nation.
