Professor Zhong Haiyan, chief expert of major national social science projects

Xin Haiyan, Professor, is currently the director of the History Department of the school of Humanities and law of South China Agricultural University, the director of the South China Ecological History Research Center, and the vice president of the Pearl River Culture Research Association. The main research directions are environmental history and social economic history. He has successively presided over two national social science fund projects,one philosophy and social science planning project of the Ministry of education, and many provincial and ministerial vertical projects; hehas published more than 30 papers, two monographs and three textbooks in academic research, research on China's social and economichistory, and China agricultural history.

The 2019 annual major project of National Social Science Fund:collection, collation and research of environmental historical datain the coastal zone of the Pearl River Delta since Song and Yuan Dynasties. Main contents: the natural geographical conditions of the Pearl River Delta are complex, the river network crisscross, the natural environment of natural endowment deeply affects thehistorical development of the Pearl River Delta. On the basis ofprevious studies, the project plans to investigate the environmental and social changes in the coastal zone of the Pearl River Delta sinceSong and Yuan Dynasties from the aspects of physical geography,technological facts and marine environment, explore the changes inthe Bay and marine ecology, analyze the self-regulation andcorresponding measures of the civil society to the marine environment, clarify the traditional ecological agricultural mode andcoastal zone development, and explore the human technology environment. The history of interaction reveals the spatial structure and social order of the social development model in the Pearl RiverDelta.
