Aesthetic teacher "first lesson": Researcher Gao Jianping from theChinese Academy of Social Sciences came to give lectures in our school

On the morning of March 8, Mr. Gao Jianping, a researcher of theInstitute of Literature of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, aformer chairman of the International Aesthetics Association, and thechairman of the Chinese Aesthetics Society, was invited to theFaculty of Humanities and Law to give a lecture entitled "Whatis Aesthetics Why "Learning Aesthetics" lecture. Thislecture is one of the series of lectures in the Ji Ya Lecture Hall ofthe Faculty of Humanities and Law, chaired by Wang Ying, director ofthe Chinese Department.


  The definition of aesthetics and the significance of learning aestheticsare the two major problems that beginners in aesthetics face. Mr. GaoJianping gave a lecture on these two issues in an easy-to-understandway, giving the most vivid first lesson to the undergraduates of theChinese Department who are about to enter the door of aesthetics.

  Mr.Gao pointed out that aesthetics is a discipline that studies beautyand art. Beauty has different types, such as natural beauty, socialbeauty, and artistic beauty. At the same time, it has bothobjectivity and subjectivity. By reviewing the domestic aestheticdiscussion in the 1950s and the series of debates in the history ofWestern aesthetics from Plato to Kant to aesthetic attitude, heclearly presented the understanding and understanding of thesubjective and objective aspects of beauty between different Chineseand Western scholars. He believes that through the different theoriessuch as "theory of beauty in form", "theory of threeelements of beauty", "theory of diversity and unity","theory of organic whole", "theory of typicality",the objectivity of beauty is actually looking for in thecharacteristics of objects The reason why it is beautiful. Thephysiological and psychological mechanism of beauty, the impact ofpast cognitive experience on current cognition, the knowledge leveland cultivation of aesthetic subjects, positions and tendencies, andthe current emotional state, etc., will also affect the subjectiveperformance of beauty.


  Regardingthe types of beauty, Mr. Gao said that natural beauty, social beauty,and artistic beauty are the results of the division of the researchobject of beauty, and the diversity of art and the categories ofbeauty (such as sublime, humor, and comics) are also the perspectivesof analyzing the types of beauty. The relationship between beauty andart is an important issue that both aesthetics and arts are activelydiscussing. To think about this issue, it is necessary to clarifymany issues such as aesthetics and art, the classification of art,the nature of art, and the relationship between art and genius's funemotions.


  Finally,Mr. Gao combined his personal experience and shared his deepexperience in aesthetics research with his classmates. He said thatbeauty is not just form, not just ethics, not just desires, not justpractical. Beauty is related to all of this, but it is a sensibilitythat transcends all of this. Beauty sets a value. Master somebeautiful laws, knowledge and theories, so as to have a reflectiveattitude towards life, society and your major. In connection with thecurrent background, Mr. Gao expressed his ardent expectations for thecurrent recovery of Chinese aesthetics. In recent years, GeneralSecretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech at the literarysymposium that he will "inherit and promote the spirit ofChinese aesthetics." The State Council has also issued anopinion to comprehensively strengthen and improve the school'saesthetic education. Mr. Gao believes that the policies and advocacyof the relevant central and national departments represent the callof the times and provide a good opportunity for the development ofthe cause of aesthetics, and all this is the source of our motivationto study and study aesthetics.


  Afterthe lecture, the students present communicated with Mr. Gao about thepositioning of the "aesthetic fever" in the 1980s, theattribution and development of the aesthetic discipline, thedefinition of beauty and ugliness, and Mr. Gao gave in-depth anddetailed answers one by one. .
